Welcome to all of our Fully Informed readers! May I ask for your help with a project that is in progress?
One of the things I’ve been working on recently is developing resources and training to prepare prospective jurors to serve conscientiously and effectively as fully informed jurors. Would you share with us as much or as little as you remember about your experience being called for jury duty?
Your recollections of:
any oaths you were requested to take either before jury selection or before being seated on a jury,
questions you were asked during jury selection (especially those about your opinion on the law or about following the judge’s instructions),
anything in the jury instructions that seemed to discourage or prohibit jury nullification, and
other things that stood out to you
can help other people get selected for and serve conscientiously as fully informed jurors.
